Beautiful Rustic Cottage Dining Room
If romantic decoration is primarily a woman woman’s preference at home, then the countryside must be a masculine interpretation. Just say, “log cabin”, and skeptics will immediately go up with this cottage decorating version. One of the reasons that Rustic Cottage is so popular among men (as well as women!) Is its relation to the outdoors. Log cabins have long been a pioneering symbol, learning to live with the land as well as abroad. It may be rough and unfinished, but Rustic Cottage has a classic sense, a time-honored style. Starting Rustic Cottage decorating plans by thinking “wood”, and the more unfinished, the better.
The cabin-style furnishings come in very recently, and are very large, casual and comfortable, the kind of sofas and chairs you can imagine a woodcutter falling into after a long day of chopping wood. Wrap the furniture with a sturdy cloth such as woven burlaps, coarse wool or plain linen and cotton. Use animal patterns, forest views, and boxes on cushions, throws and curtains to light the furniture. “Woodsy Outdoors” is a description for wood finishing and Rustic Cottage-style paint.
Colors must be found in nature: rocky gray, mossy, leafy or grassy vegetables, brown like a large tree bark or rich soil covered with deciduous leaves. Accents should be in the shades of gold, red, orange and rust. And when it comes to texture, there is no perfect showroom. The wood paneling is fine, but make sure it’s a complicated pine or something that has some genuine imperfections. Actually, the surface does not have to have a shiny finishing. Keep varnish on matte wood, or paint with colored washes that will allow natural wood grain. The rough beams on the ceiling will be a great addition, both for texture and architectural detail. If you are lacking for wood though, do not worry.

You can still reach the outdoor atmosphere with lots of wooden picture frames and other accessories. A basket of pinecones brings a very nice jungle touch. However, the floor should be wooden boards if possible (and the budget will stand). If natural wood floors are too expensive, and you’re dead faced with some realistic-looking laminations right now, then try for granite, tombstones or colorless slate. Whether wood or stone, the braided area carpet just goes naturally with the Rustic Cottage decor.
Not only are they smart and comfortable, they come in a variety of shapes and materials giving them a pioneering practicality into the room. Place a long board table with a side seat and a chair and legs in the dining room, large living room or your family-style kitchen. If there is a dining room and kitchen, use an old oak table and wooden chairs in the kitchen. Try repeating some plaid or woodland patterns in tablecloths and napkins. Finally, put some rocking chairs in front of the stone fireplace with the cedar fireplace. A bear leather rug may not be possible, but the sheepskin carpet can also be the right choice (and perhaps softer on the foot!). The bed in the bed, or the blanket on the wall for decoration, the wooden lights, and some Adirondack chairs on the porch … what more relaxed atmosphere can you ask from your Rustic country house?
